Heather Alford, a McNeese masters of business administration student and former interim golf coach, remained in jail Monday, likely facing charges of vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated.

Alford rear-ended a Jeep Cherokee Saturday night while headed north on Ryan Street, killing nine-year-old Holly Fontenot and her mother Colette Fontenot. Both vehicles caught fire after the impact. The Jeep was waiting to turn into McDonald's at the time of the crash, according to police reports.

Holly died on the scene as the Jeep burned, and Collete died Monday in a Baton Rouge hospital, according to a McNeese spokesperson.

Judge Wilford Carter ordered Alford held without bond and as of press time, the 24-year-old McNeese student remained incarcerated.
